Jackson Daniel’s abstract paintings are truly extraordinary. With a natural gift for color and placement, this young talent is a remarkable artist with a remarkable story.
Jackson Daniel was born on September 12, 2002 and shortly there after, at 8 weeks of age, he was diagnosed with intractable epilepsy originating from his left hemisphere. The abnormality included the motor sensory area. On May 1, 2003 - at just 7 ˝ months old - this brave little boy faced unbelievable odds as he underwent life threatening brain surgery. During an intense 13 hour surgery, a team of highly specialized UCLA neurosurgeons removed the cerebral cortex of the left hemisphere and disconnected his left & right hemisphere’s, leaving Jackson with just the use of the right side of the brain. As a result, Jackson has limited use of his right arm and leg and has a right visual field cut in both eyes.Currently, Jackson is at about a 24 to 36 month developmental level and striving to catch up with each passing day. Despite all that Jackson has endured in his short little life, today he is a wonderfully loving and happy five year old child – full of smiles, warmth & joy! Cherished & nurtured by his parents, Jackson has discovered a true talent – to paint, to paint abstract art. With paint, brush, and canvas before of him, Jackson applies a compelling intuitive technique to each painting that he undertakes.Often times vibrant, sometimes shady, Jackson’s work can always be found to be distinctive and unique. Jackson’s weekly schedule is quite busy with his various physical, occupational & speech therapy sessions along with swimming and horse therapy.Collectively, all of these therapies make a huge impact on Jackson’s continued progress. But despite his many appointments, Jackson still finds time to create his extraordinary paintings. In addition to “Proud Son”, Jackson Daniel’s other paintings have been shown and auctioned in the Seattle area where his resides with his parents and brother.
