ARTIST’S BIO
The love of painting developed for artist Moira Cohn when
her son was little.  He would ask her to draw for him and would not accept “I can’t” as an answer, so Moira started taking art classes.   She discovered in painting the ability to hold onto time, to interpret memories and convey emotions.
A new passion was born.  Moira paints in both watercolor
and oil.  She has studied watercolor with artists including Cathy Cangro, Linda Gunn and Jim Wisnowski , oil with
Lee Kim, Mario Mirkovich and Blu Rivard and portraits
with Evan Peelle and currently with Diedre Burke.  She has also taken part in various workshops.
Moira was born and educated in England.  Her childhood was spent between England and West Africa where her father held a senior position in the World Health Organization.  She and her husband have traveled extensively and lived for many years in Paris, France before moving to Los Angeles.  Moira’s artistic inspiration is drawn from these many years of travel and also from her great love of animals and nature.  She also likes to paint portraits from antique photographs, bringing the people to life for their descendants today.    Moira feels an emotional attachment with all her subjects and hopes that the viewer will do the same.
